Paris, The city of love, croissants, the Eiffel tower and not to forget: the number one city of fashion. I am crazy about Paris and the Parisian street style. I mean, can we not all agree on the fact that the French girls are a perfect mix between easy chic and timeless glamour? Luckily we can adapt this style with the new book of Isabelle Thomas and Frédérique Veysset – Paris Street style: a guide to effortless chic. It’s a perfect guide to help find your own style in an affordable way and next to that, the book is full of tips & tricks about the Parisian street style and Paris itself. Do you recognize these stones when you see the photograph? The little pieces shown above are sea glass stones created in the sea. Due to the salt water, there are weathering processes that produce natural frosted glass all over the world. That is why you can find these stones on every beach, but the best times to look are during spring tides especially perigean and proxigean tides, and during the first low tide after a storm. And what if you never seen them before? Take a close watch at touristic places, because you can find a lot of jewellery that is made out of sea glass and there are also a lot of shops that sell the stones per piece. Or see it as a change to go to the beach this weekend. Maybe you can find a few while you take a long walk in the breezy wind of the sea.
Did you know that flowers are healthy for you? I collect a lot of flower photographs and every time I buy flowers or receive them, it makes me so happy. So is it just me, or is it scientifically proven that they are good for you? Well, I did a little research and found out that flowers do have a positive effect on your health! According to an Harvard study, there are three main findings discovered. First of all, flowers feed compassion. They also chase away anxieties and worries at home. And last but not least, living with flowers can provide a boost of energy, happiness and enthusiasm at work. How great is that you can achieve those effects with just one bouquet of flowers in your house!? Get inspired!
Why is it that we always choose for vacation holidays in countries that we already know? Why is it that we are afraid to experience something new and stick to the old known habits? That was the question that popped up in my head when I saw this breath-taking photograph of a lake in Slovenia. Do we choose those trips based on safety, because we ‘know the place and it is good?’ Well my goal is to always search for something new, the unknown. And I think Slovenia has definitely made it to my list of must go’s! This country offers just about everything what anyone could wish for. The diverse landscapes with magnificent rugged alpine peaks, some of the most beautiful lakes in Europe and more than 8000 subterranean caves and coastal resorts that nestle on the sunny turquoise Adriatic sea. But it is not only the breathtaking scenery why Slovenia is a must go, it offers also a great value for money and a vast array of experiences to enjoy. And I can already say that slovenian food is real tasteful and healthy! So what do you think, will it be Slovenia for the summer? Get inspired!
What is it about social media that we like so much? The updates of our friends about drinks in a fancy club or a new ‘like page’ that keeps you updated with the most (not) interesting stories. But we are still attractive to those social media. Actually, I believe that we are more addicted than ever. If I take a quick look around me, I see almost everyone sitting with his or her mobile phone or laptop including myself. So that made me think about why social media is so addictive and can I change this addiction in something inspiring? Maybe I can find something that inspires your day more than quick update of a party event.
And luckily I found it! It is an account on Instagram, called Berlinstagram, from a guy that takes the most wonderful pictures everyday with his mobile of Berlin. According to his website, it was in October 2010 that he took his first iPhone picture and uploaded it to Instagram. Soon after that he discovered the possibilities of photo editing apps and Instagram’s vibrant community. And that is what you see in every photograph he takes.
So if you already spend that much time on your phone, visit http://berlinstagram.net for inspiring photographs or add him on Instagram: Berlinstagram. Get inspired!
I love to eat bagels each day, every day, all day. The problem is that I was not sure if bagels could also be healthy. I love to sport, eat healthy and bagels just seemed like a no go. Fortunately, the opposite is true! Bagels can be healthy but it depends on which you choose. So start with a little history. Bagels were first introduced in 1693 as tribute to a Polish king. Since then they have crossed continents and become a mainstay in America. Although bagels are good eats, the nutrition of bagels isn’t thought about unless you’re counting calories. Here is a rundown on this tasty treat and what it’s made of. A bagel has zero to very low fat content, but it does contain between 70 and 380 calories. The size of the bagel determines how many calories it has. Bagels are a good source of vitamin C, calcium, iron, protein and fiber. Although they aren’t considered the healthiest of foods to eat, they do provide high amounts of fiber to keep you regular. What means that if you eat them for breakfast, they will keep you filled until lunch. And for me that is just perfect! On the photograph you will see four bagels that are healthy and real tasteful. For each bagel I will write down the recipe below. Get inspired!
Bagel 1: Multigrain bagel with freshly made humus, avocado slices, cucumber and basil. Finish it with salt and pepper.
Bagel 2: Multigrain bagel with low fat cream cheese (Philadelphia for example) and top it with fresh raspberries.
Bagel 3: Multigrain bagel with low fat cream cheese (Philadelphia for example) and little yellow tomatoes. Slice them in two, so they will stick on your bagel. For taste you can put a little fresh mint on top of it.
Bagel 4: Multigrain bagel with freshly made humus and brown beans. For taste you can put coriander on top of it.
Berlin. For a long time I was planning to move to this city and I am here now. The city that is well known for its history. On every corner of every street you can find something that will remind you of the things of what have been happened here. Also, this city is relaxed. It is all about freedom, creativity and social people. The art scene here is huge. I can truly say everything is possible here. And of course not to forget: the schnitzels und bradwurt mit sauerkraut. This is my first time, but I can already say that this city is magic. If you want to experience this town, you have to explore every district. You will not find the shimmering on first hand, but that is the fun of this city. Berlin is known for it’s hidden gems and many of them. I am sure people will recognize this once they have been there. So five months. I have only got five months to explore and discover everything there is to know about Berlin. And for now I can only say: Du bist verrückt mein Kind, du mußt nach Berlin. You’re crazy, my child, you have to Berlin!
